PM Modi to address farmers, release Rs 18,000 cr under PM-Kisan scheme today

New Delhi, Dec 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the next installment of financial benefit under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) through video conferencing. With the push of a button, he will release Rs 18,000 crore to 80 million farmers. The Prime Minister will also have a conversation with farmers from six different states during the event.
“Tomorrow’s day is very important for the country’s Annadatas. Will get the opportunity to release the next installment of PM-Kisan for more than 9 crores farmer families through video conferencing at 12 pm. Will also interact with farmers of many states on this occasion,” PM Modi tweeted in Hindi on Thursday.

The farmers will share their experiences about PM-KISAN and also on various other initiatives taken by the government for the welfare of farmers. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar will also be present on the occasion. Apart from him, many Union ministers, MPs, MLAs and BJP office bearers are expected to be present in various parts of the country to listen to the Prime Minister’s address with the people. While home minister Amit Shah and defence minister Rajnath Singh will listen to PM Modi’s speech in Delhi, road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari will be in Assam.
 
Speaking about the event, the Agriculture Minister said, on December 25, Atal Bihari Vajpayee's birth anniversary is celebrated as Sushashan Diwas, good governance day. He said, after PM Modi became Prime Minister, many steps have been taken to promote good governance, ease of living and transparency. He said, "DBT is an important scheme for good governance and transparency.There was a time when out of 100 rupees sent by the government only 15 rupees used to reach villages but the Modi Government managed to send full 100 rupees to people directly through DBT. "
 
Tomar said the Modi government is committed to strengthening the agriculture sector. He said, representatives of the Confederation of NGOs of Rural India on Wednesday met him and submitted three lakh 13 thousand three hundred 63 signatures taken across one lakh villages in support of the three farm laws enacted by the Centre recently.
 
Under the PM-KISAN scheme, a financial benefit of Rs. 6,000 per year is provided to small and marginal farmers, payable in three equal four-monthly installments of two thousand rupees each. The fund is transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
 
The is the part of government outreach in the wake of ongoing farmer protest near national capital Delhi. PM Modi is time and again explaining the benefits of farm reforms and has assured farmers that the existing government support mechanism, including minimum support price and agriculture mandis, will continue.
