PM Modi, Amit Shah pays floral tributes to Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his 96th birth anniversary

New Delhi, December 25: Remembering the former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the occasion of his 96th birth anniversary Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid floral tributes at his memorial in Delhi.

Apart from them, President Ram Nath Kivind, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan also paid their tributes to the late Prime Minister in Delhi.
 
 
 
Taking to Twitter, the Prime Minister said that Vajpayee's efforts to build a strong and prosperous India will always be remembered.
 
"Tributes to the former Prime Minister and BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary. Under his visionary leadership, he took the country to unprecedented heights of development. His efforts to build a strong and prosperous India will always be remembered," PM Modi tweeted in Hindi.
 
Union Home Minister Amit Shah commended Atal Bihari Vajpayee's efforts for development, the welfare of the poor, and good governance.
 
Moreover, PM Modi is also going to release a book titled 'Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Parliament: A Commemorative Volume in the Central Hall of Parliament. The book, published by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, highlights the life and works of the former Prime Minister and contains his notable speeches delivered in Parliament. The book also contains some rare photographs from his public life.

Born on December 25, 1924, in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior. Vajpayee was the first BJP Ledar who becomes Prime Minister. He served as Prime Minister thrice - briefly in 1996, from 1998 to 1999, and then for a full five-year term between 1999 and 2004. In his tenure, Indian successfully carried out a nuclear test in Pokhran and become a nuclear state.
 
He took India to new heights by introducing economic reforms. Under his tenure from 1998 to 2004, India maintained a GDP rate of eight percent, the inflation level came down to four percent and foreign exchange reserves were flourishing.
 
 
He not only improved the economy of India but also introduced social reforms to uplift the unprivileged section of society.Apart from politics, Vajpayee was a prominent writer and wrote a number of poems. The late leader was conferred Bharat Ratna in 2015 He had also been awarded Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant Award for Best Parliamentarian in 1994.
