Raipur, Dec 15: CRPF Deputy Commandant Vikas Singhal has succumbed to his injuries after being seriously injured in an IED blast led by Maoists. He was injured in the blast on Dec 13.

CRPF Deputy Commandant Vikas Singhal belonged to CRPF's elite CoBRA unit, 208th battalion. He was injured in an IED blast in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, to which he succumbed on Dec 14.
 
He had received serious injuries on Dec 13, when the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by Maoists exploded while it was being defused by security personnel in Kistaram police station limits.
 
Inspector General of Police (Bastar range) Sundarraj P has reported that, "The injured officer was shifted to a private hospital in Raipur where he died at around 1 am on Monday during his treatment."
 
The Commando Battalion for a Resolute Action (CoBRA) is an elite jungle warfare unit of the Central Reserve Police Force. On Nov 28, an officer of the CoBRA unit was killed and nine commandos were injured in an IED blast triggered by Maoists in Chintalnar area of Sukma, located around 450 km from the state capital Raipur.
