Srinagar, Dec 14: The sixth phase of DDC polls concluded smoothly across the union territory of J&K . Around 55 per cent polling was registered in the sixth phase of DDC polls in J&K.
State Election Commissioner K.K. Sharma said that in Jammu, voting percentage was 68.56 and whereas in the Kashmir Valley 31.55 per cent voting was recorded. Poonch district topped the list with an impressive 76.78 per cent of voter turnout, followed by Rajouri district with that of 74.03 per cent.
In the Kashmir Valley, Ganderbal district recorded the highest polling at 58.4 per cent followed by Kupwara District at 51.08 per cent in the phase. The fate of 245 candidates has been sealed in the ballot boxes with the latest polls.
In the first phase of DDC Polls, nearly 52 per cent polling was recorded in 43 DDC constituencies and in the second phase, the poll percentage was 49 per cent for 43 DDC constituencies. For the 3rd phase nearly 51 per cent votes were polled while in the 4th Phase, over 50 per cent polling was recorded.
In the fifth phase 51.20 per cent voters had exercised their franchise. In the sixth phase of polling, a total of 3,85,606 electors exercised their franchise which includes 1,78,383 female voters.
