Raipur, Dec 1: Assistant commandant of Central Reserve Police Force- CRPF Nitin Bhalerao was martyred in Chhattisgarh's Bastar in an IED based attack of the maoists and nine other security personnels have injured in the blast.
Martyred Nitin Bhalerao hailed from Nashik, in Maharashtra.
The incident took place when a joint team of CoBRA battalion, which is an elite unit of CRPF especially in combat with maoists, Special Task Force and District Reserve Guards was on a search operation in Arabraj Metta hills of Sukma district in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh. The Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast resulted in eight officers and jawans of 206 CoBRA including Second in Command Dinesh Kumar Singh and Assistant Commandant Nitin Bhalerao being injured.
The injured CRPF personnels were immediately rushed to Chintalnar Field Hospital and later airlifted to Raipur. Assistant Commandant Nitin Bhalerao succumbed to his injuries on the next morning. Condition of the remaining injured personnel is reported to be stable.
