Bhubaneshwar, Nov 17 : The Odisha Govt has prohibited mass bathing at river banks and ghats for the Chhat Puja celebrations. The decision was taken in consideration of the rising numbers of COVID patients per day.
The recovery rate in the state continues to rise with each passing day. As many as 1297 persons have recovered on Nov 16, taking the total recovery in the state to 2,99,159. On the other hand 749 persons were reported positive during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 3,09,408.
With this recovery rate, the state is merely a day away from crossing the three lakh mark. Whereas, the sustained growth in recovery rate has caused a significant negative growth in the active caseload of the state which has dipped below ten thousand.
Considering the prevailing scenario, the govt has taken proactive step to contain the virus from spreading further in the coming festivity of Chhat Puja when there are possibilities of another major outbreak. In order to deal with the same issue, the state government has prohibited Chhat Puja and mass bathing at river banks and ghats on the 20th and 21st of Nov.
Understanding the seriousness of the matter, the people as well have welcomed this move of the state govt and have been cooperating with the administration by adopting an anti-congregational approach particularly during religious occasions, which was observed during the celebrations of Dassera and Diwali too.
