Mumbai, September 28: Clearing the suspense off for resinging of the MLA post, Maharashtra State Cooperative bank scam accused Ajit Pawar on Saturday cleared that his uncle, NCP chief Sharad Pawar had no connection with the bank and that his name had been unnecessarily dragged into the case because of him.
"I feel his name has been dragged just because I am his relative. Because of me, Sharad Pawar and NCP are being defamed. This is the reason I have resigned without asking Sharad Pawar", he said wiping the tears, while addressing the forum.
"Also the amount involved in the scam is not Rs 25000 crores. The bank referred has deposits only amounting to Rs 12-15000 crores, how can the board members scam for Rs 25000 crores", he pondered adding that Sharad Pawar had never been on board of the bank and that he had nothing to do with the case. "Sharad Pawar and NCP are being defamed because of me", he said.
Ajit Pawar on Friday had resigned from the MLA post after NCP president Sharad Pawar got named into the Maharashtra Cooperative Bank fraud of Rs 25000 crores and went incommunicado, causing a flutter in the party and around.
The party and the state at large estimated the resaon to be out of internal family problems before Sharad Pawar cleared off the estimations saying that nothing alike had happened. "There is no feud. My decision is the last word in all family matters. When I meet Ajit I will ask him the reason for his extreme decision," Pawar had said.
"There is nothing to worry. Ajit Pawar is stressed out for my name appeared in the case and that the NCP was at stake because of this", Sharad Pawar later said. The Pawar senior's daughter and party MP Supriya Sule, who was advised rest after being diagnosed with dengue, also attended the meeting where only members of the Pawar clan were present.
