Mumbai, September 27: In an effort to give major boost to underwater combat capabilities, the second most sophisticated submarine of the Indian Navy, INS Khanderi, is ready to protect Mumbai's coastline. The Navy's strength at sea has been further enhanced by the Navy's induction of a submarine capable of destroying enemy ships located 300 km off the coast of Mumbai.
On September 28, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will commission the second of the Scorpene class of submarines INS Khanderi into the Navy at the event held at Mumbai Naval Dock. Khanderi, built at Mazgaon Dock, Mumbai, was commissioned in 2017. After two years of testing in the depths of the ocean, Khanderi will be deployed to protect the country's sea border.
INS Khanderi is fully capable of protecting the Indian maritime boundary. Torpedo and antiship missiles will be deployed at Lash Khanderi with state-of-the-art technology. They have the ability to destroy any warship from water to water and from water to water. Khanderi can stay underwater for 45 days. With this, this submarine built in the country can easily cover a distance of 35 km in an hour. The submarine, 67 meters long, 6.2 meters wide and 12.3 meters high, weighs 1550 tons. It can hold more than 36 navies. Khanderi, which has the power to get rid of the enemy's sixes, can go to a depth of 300 meters in the ocean. No radar can detect it.
Once in the water, Khanderi can travel up to 12 thousand kilometers. Khanderi is a battery-operated submarine. To keep it in water for a long time, 360 batteries of 750 kg have been installed in it. To charge the battery, 2 diesel generators of 1250 watts have been installed in it.
