Bollywood film Gully Boy gets entry into Oscars

Mumbai, September 23: Bollywood film, Gully Boy was selected as India's official entry in the International Feature Film category at the Oscars on Saturday. The film is directed by Zoya Akhtar and stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. It also features Vijay Raaz, Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Varma and Amruta Subhash.


 

Gully Boy is a coming-of-age drama centered on the life of aspiring rapper Murad, portrayed by Ranveer. The film was inspired by the real-life stories of Mumbai rappers Divine and Naezy.

The film released on 14th February to widespread critical acclaim.

FFI president Firdausul Hasan said the screening process for the Oscar selection started on Monday and ended on Saturday, revealing that apart from Gully Boy, other Bollywood films competing for the Oscar entry were Badhaai Ho, Andhadhun, Article 15, Uri: The Surgical Strike, Badla, Kesari and The Tashkent Files.
