Washington, September 19: Respecting India, a video of a US Army band playing the Indian national anthem, ‘Jana Gana Mana’, has been posted by the U.S. Embassy in India. The band was playing the anthem during a joint exercise between the Indian and US Army in Washington.
The joint military exercise was part of the ongoing Indo-US defence cooperation ‘Yudh Abhyas’ at Joint Base Lewis, McChord, Washington DC in the US. The training which began on September 5 concluded on Wednesday.
Exercise Yudh Abhyas provided an opportunity to the armed forces of both countries to train in an integrated manner at Battalion level with joint planning at Brigade level. Multiple scenarios were rehearsed during the joint exercise with a view to understanding each other's organisational structure and battle procedures which would result in a higher degree of joint manship that would further facilitate interoperability between the armed forces of both countries to meet any unforeseen contingency across the globe. The exercise is also an ideal platform to learn from each other's expertise and experiences of planning and execution of operations.
Both armies were jointly trained, plannned and executed a series of well-developed operations for neutralization of threats of varied nature. At the end, a joint exercise was undertaken by both countries in an operational setting under a UN mandate. Experts from both sides held expert academic and military discussions to share each other's experiences on varied topics for mutual benefit.
