Lucknow, September 18: Waking straight ahead in the fourth day of continuous rainfall in Uttar Pradesh, the monsoon has led to a flood like situation in Prayagraj district with houses on the bank of Ganga river partially submerged in water.
Ruining the mormal lifestyle of people, a lot of houses have submerged and people are being moved to safer places. Working for the rising problems for basic needs like food, shelter, the state government has moved up closing schools in range of 5 km from Ganga and Yamuna closed till September 21.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), giving a warning, has predicted that isolated places over Uttar Pradesh would likely receive heavy rainfall.
Both Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have witnessed deficient rains to the tune of at least 20 per cent each, despite an excess of 4 per cent monsoon rains over the country this season.
The deficit has been much more pronounced in neighbouring Jharkhand, where some districts are facing drought like conditions. As on September 11, only northwest and eastern states of the country remain rain deficit in the country. The withdrawal of the monsoon is delayed yet again this season. Normally it begins to withdraw from the West Rajasthan around September 1.
