Srinagar, August 2: With an oath of Nation First, the Indian Army has made sure that the Amarnath Yatra this year be one of the most successful yatra for the pilgrims. And in view of this various measures have been taken to ensure safe and secure journey of the yatris.

The Indian Army on Friday said it has confirmed intelligence inputs about Pakistan trying to disrupt the Amarnath Yatra, adding that mines and ammunition had been recovered along the route. Pertaining to the terror threat backed by Pakistan Army in Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir government issued an unprecedented security advisory asking the Amarnath Yatris to curtail their stay and return back from the valley.

The advisory read, “Keeping in view the latest intelligence inputs of terror threats, with specific targeting of the Amarnath Yatra, and given the prevailing security situation in the Kashmir Valley, in the interest of the safety and security of the tourists and Amarnath Yatris, it is advised that they may curtail their stay in the Valley immediately and take necessary measures to return as soon as possible,” the order issued by the State Home Department said.

The situation and security have been tightened to ensure safety of the yatris. Over the past few days, the deployment of troops in masses have instilled speculations of security threat, however, it was the reason was ascertained by the security forces. The Centre deployed a total of 35,000 paramilitary personnel in Kashmir.

Addressing a press conference, Chinar Corps Commander Lt General KJS Dhillon said the neighbour was trying to disrupt peace in the Valley but they would not be tolerated. He insisted that the situation on the LoC was under control and peaceful and infiltration bids by Pakistan were being successfully thwarted.

Further adding he said that searches are going on in Shopian where an attempt to attack security forces was made on Thursday night. Speaking about the same, he said, “The type of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) we are examining and the IED expert terrorists we are capturing and eliminating point to the fact that Pakistan is trying to disrupt peace in Kashmir. We assure 'awaam' of Kashmir that no one will be allowed to disrupt peace.”

Dhillon added, “Pakistan Army landmines have also been recovered. This clearly indicates that Pakistan Army is involved in terrorism in Kashmir. An M-24 American sniper rifle with a telescope was also recovered from a terror cache along the Amarnath Yatra route.”
