New Delhi, August 16: Slating yet another historic victory India has finally crossed all hurdles as it maintains its stand on Kashmir being an internal matter and is an integral part of the country. Failing miserably with an international shame, Pakistan’s innumerable attempts to manipulate the UNSC members backfired at it in a worse manner. Having begged China who is a permanent member of the UNSC, and indirectly requesting UN to have a closed-door consultation on the issue, Pakistan noted its fate his nibs. The two countries, Pakistan and China’s all efforts thwarted at the UNSC as there was no support for China’s lead initiative to rake up Kashmir by Pakistan at UN.
Speaking about the result, Indian envoy to United Nations Syed Akbaruddin said that India’s national position was and remains that matter related to Article370 of the Indian Constitution is entirely an internal matter of India. These have no external ramifications, the recent decisions taken by the Govt of India and our legislative bodies are intended to ensure that good governance is promoted, social economic development is enhanced for our people in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
He further added that India had committed to gradually remove all restrictions. Since the change is internal to India have not made any difference to our external orientation. India remains committed to ensure that the situation there (J&K) remains calm & peaceful.
Hitting at Pakistan, Akbaruddin elaborated saying India notes that there were some who tried to project an alarmist approach to the situation which is far from the ground realities. Of particular concern is that one state is using terminology of 'jihad' against & promoting violence in India including by their leaders.
India’s close ally Russia backed India during the UNSC meet. Russia's deputy permanent representative, Dimitry Polyanskiy told reporters before entering the meeting room that Moscow's view is that it is a "bilateral issue" between India and Pakistan. He said the meeting was being held to understand what is happening. "That's what closed consultations are for. What does Russia think the next step should be- we favour bilateral track between india and Pakistan. You know our position. It hasn't changed. Today we have closed consultations and we will just exchange opinions and see what we can do and what we cannot do. It is a normal process."
Diplomatically supporting Pakistan like it always does, China tried its level best to ensure that the ball is in Pakistan’s court. After the UNSC meeting, the Chinese envoy said, “The security general made a statement to refrain from taking unilateral action which is dangerous. Issue should be resolved in accordance with UN Charter.” He also said that China is deeply concerned about the situation. He added saying, “We call upon India and Pakistan to not aggregate tensions in the region. The situation is dangerous. China asks both countries to maintain peace in the region.”
