Srinagar, July 27: A Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM )commander from Pakistan who was responsible for blasts in Arihal Pulwama and Banihal was among two militants killed in a gunfight with the security forces in Shopian today says the local police.
The commander of South Kashmir namely Munna Lahori from Pakistan was killed in an encounter with security forces in Shopian district. Lahori was known as IED making expert and was pushing recruitment in the southern belt. Police said he was also responsible for a series of civilian killings in the local area.
A senior police spokesman said another terrorist identified as Zeenatul Islam of Turkwangan area of Shopian district was also killed in the encounter.
In a tweet, state police said, “The slain Jaish commander Munna Lahori was responsible for partial Car Blast attack on Security Force convoy on 30/3/19 at Banihal and fatal car blast on Army vehicle at Arihal Pulwahma on 17/6/19. Some fatal & non-fatal casualties took place in that blast.”
Acting on a tip-off about the presence of militants in Banday Mohalla in Bonbazar area of Shopian, security forces launched a cordon and search operation, said a police official.
