New Delhi, Jun 19: Modi 2.0 is now working for transformative reforms in not just economic policies but also in administration. The Indian government is now working on comprehensive administration. In these reforms, today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is chairing an all-party-meet called to discuss his ‘One-Nation, One-Election’ concept.
This meeting is aimed to discuss the idea of ‘One-Nation, One-Election’ among other things including NITI Aayog's proposal for developing ‘Aspirational Districts’ in undergoing at parliament.
But, to this all-party meet, Many opposition leaders skipped the meeting giving various ‘excuses’ and reservations. Congress, UPA parties and TMC rejected the whole idea of the meeting.
The most notable leaders who skipped meeting are Mamata Banerjee (TMC), K Chandrashekar Rao (TRS), Arvind Kejriwal (APP), Chandrababu Naidu (TDP), Mayawati (BSP) and Akhilesh Yadav (SP) with Udhav Thackery of Shivsena.
But, the AAP, TDP, and TRS have instead sent representatives to the meeting of party presidents.
JDU’s Nitish Kumar, NC’s Farooq Abdullah, SAD’s Sukhbir Singh Badal, BJD’s Naveen Patnaik, PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti and YSRCP’s Jagan Mohan Reddy are attending the meeting.
But, ironically, DMK, the 2nd largest party of UPA and other Congress allies like NCP, IUML attended the meeting.
While rejecting the concept of meeting, TMC chief Mamta Banerjee has written to the government that ‘she would not be able to attend the meeting called to discuss the issue of one nation, one election’ because 'the matter required consultation with constitutional experts, election exports, and all party members'.
After all this drama from Bengal leader, yet there are many prominent opposition leaders attended the meeting which includes, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, K.Suresh from Congress with TR Baalu and Kanimozhi from DMK, Supriya Sule from NCP, Thirumavalavan Thol from VCK, NK Premachandran from RSO and Thomas Chazhikadan of KC-M.
