ITBP shares an awe-inspiring video as Himveer jawans gear up for International Yoga Day in 18k feet altitude

Ladakh, June 14: A warrior at heart, a soldier at soul, braving all odds the security personnel have always demonstrated their ‘never give up’ attitude. Setting a noteworthy and awe-inspiring example, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) personnel have been practising to gear up for the fifth International Yoga Day in a cold desert of Ladakh at an altitude of 18,000 feet.

 

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel, popularly known as Himveers, have once again signified their enthralling dedication not only towards their duties in guarding India’s borders but also unflinchingly braving the most inhospitable conditions, even performing Yoga ahead of the International Yoga Day on June 21.

A video shared by the ITBP officials shows a large contingent of Himveer Jawans sitting on their freeze-proof mats in a neat grid. The Jawans are engrossed in concentration in the stunning environment which comprises a vast snow-topped plain. The Himveer Jawans are each applying the perfect Padmasana in the video.

Under the command of the Union Home Ministry, the mountain-warfare trained force is deployed from the Karakarom Pass in Jammu and Kashmir to Jechap La in Arunachal to guard the 3,488-km long Line of Actual Control (LAC) across 5 states. Its border posts are located at altitudes ranging from 3,000-19,000 feet. Such training in the snow conditions provides them with the conditioning of the body and mind so that they would be ready to battle when needed.

Not just India but the entire world participates practising Yoga on June 21 as designated by the United Nations on recommendation of PM Narendra Modi. International Yoga Day aims at improving physical and spiritual wellness globally through yoga. People across the globe are now practising yoga in order to be healthy and physically active. Science has proved that yoga has a power to combat high blood pressure, depression, chronic pain, anxiety and other lifestyle disorders. It also improves cardiac function, muscle strength and circulation.

The main event of International Day of Yoga 2019 celebrations will be held at Prabhat Tara in Ranchi on 21st of this month. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the main function.
