New Delhi, Apr 6: By imbibing values like tolerance, love, goodwill, oneness, we can overcome the overtly visible problems caused by the petty differences and become good human beings and responsible citizens, said Indresh Kumar, senior RSS leader and noted social thinker.

He was addressing a program titled “Vote for Dynamic India” jointly organized by various Christian organizations including Isai Rashtriya Manch, Rashtriya Massihi Mitra Manch, National United Christian Front, Hallelujah Worship Team India, and Rashtriya Isai Maha Sangh at National YMCA auditorium in New Delhi on April 2.

Dr Denzil Godin, Anglo-Indian nominated MLA of Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Dr Ajay Mall, Bishop of Agra, Roma Joseph of Lucknow, Thomas Sebastian,, Dr Maria Fernandez, Mumbai, and other Christian leaders were prominently present at the meeting.

Addressing the gathering Indresh Kumar further said that every religion teaches all to be good human beings. He said that no prophet has ever criticized other prophet. They all preached their followers to be good human beings. Therefore there is no problem with the prophets. However, the real [problem is with their followers, he said adding that with cultivation of values like tolerance, love, compassion and brotherhood we can overcome these differences and resolve our problems.

National identity of a people is above every other identity; he said explaining that if we give priority to our religious identity then we might arrive at a wrong answer. But if we think in term of nationality we may get the right answer.

If the Englishmen were Christian why did they enslave us? They used Christianity to rule this country and enslave the people here. Nation is common for all of us and nationality is our only one common identity.

He said that during the five year tenure of Modi government there were no religious or communal riots in any part of the country. The government has given representation to all the minority communities and maybe first time in the history, in National Minority Commission. Scholarships of students have been doubled without any discrimination.

Indresh Kumar said that the country has progressed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The economy has improved considerably and India’s stature has increased in the comity of nations, he added. The benefits are reaching to the deserving beneficiaries. It is therefore necessary to elect once again such a determined, firm and strong government to make India superpower in the world, he said appealing to the Christian community to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

DR Denzil Godin, MLA said that we have felt the need of a good government since long and the Modi government has fulfilled that need. We will work to ensure 100 percent voting in these Lok Sabha elections.

He said that Christians have served this nation selflessly and we need the government that ensures freedom of expression and equality and this is possible under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi only, he added making a fervent appeal to vote for Modi and BJP.

Roma Joseph of Rashtriya Isaai Mitra Mandal, Lucknow, said that the Modi government’s performance in the last five years has surpassed all other previous governments. She said that it was general perception that Christians voted only for the Congress party. But this perception is wrong, she emphatically said, adding that the Yogi government succeeded in stopping communal riots.

Christians will vote for the government that ensures their development and appealed to the people to think twice before casting their vote so that it goes to the right party and right leader.

Father Thomas Sebastian said that we should not spoil or misuse even a single vote which is our weapon to elect the government that ensures growth, development and progress of all sans discrimination.

Dr Maria Fernandez from Mumbai said that the general perception that Christians are pro-Congress is wrong. She said that she was associated with ABVP during her student life and now she is the working president of Rashtriya Gauraksha Sangh. She insisted that Christians should be given proper representation in minority organizations and statutory bodies.
