Kolkata, April 3: Leaving no stones unturned and pitching hard to grab the power in West Bengal, Bharatiya Janata Party aims at transforming the state into Sonar Bangal. Assuring people of the state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the Congress and Trinamool Congress over their appeasement politics. PM Modi also accused the Congress of breaking the morale of armed forces by asking for proof of air strikes.

Addressing the people in Kolkata, PM Modi thanked the people for their blessings and asserted that he has come along with a report card of five years. The Prime Minister appreciated the people’s zeal and said that the achievements such as surgical strikes, air strikes, Mission Shakti, inland waterway from Varanasi to Kolkata were possible only because of their blessings.

The rule under the Trinamool Congress leader and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been very unfortunate as people were deprived from their basic benefits. PM Modi asserted this election to be an opportunity for you all to defeat Trinamool's bomb and gun culture. PM Modi further added that the party has worked for the people, enabling houses, sanitation facilities and electricity has led India on a progressive path.

Giving an example for the situation in communist ruled Tripura to be the same as West Bengal, PM Modi said that it was possible to make BJP government there and now the state is on path of development. PM Modi also took a dig saying that the aunt-nephew (Mamata Banerjee and Abhishekh Banerjee) have been looting the state after the recent airport incident that came into limelight.

In the election rally in Kolkata, PM Modi described Congress’ manifesto as ‘dhakosla patra’ which he said will expire on May 23, the date when Lok Sabha election counting will be held. Talking to the people, PM Modi said that Congress is promising something that will help terrorists sitting in Pakistan. Why is Congress playing with national security? Why is Congress trying to destabilise the nation? The party was doing all this for their vote bank and has always been soft on terrorism. In 2019, your vote will play an important role in destroying terrorism.

PM Modi's rallies in Mamata Banerjee’s mainstay is likely to give a big push to the BJP where it is looking to win more than 22 seats. In the 2014 General Election, the TMC had won 34 seats in West Bengal, while the BJP picked up two. The eastern state has 42 parliamentary seats where polling will be held in seven different phases between 11 April and 19 May.
