20 states, 91 seats; India steps out to cast its vote for the first phase of #DeshKaMahaTyohar

New Delhi, April 11: After a month of hectic campaigning and wooing the voter’s to cast their precious vote, the day has finally arrived. Dropping down the curtains, India steps out to participate in ‘Desh ka Maha Tyohaar’, the Lok Sabha elections. The first phase of polling for Lok Sabha elections is underway. 91 seats are in fray across 18 states and two union territories.

Prime Minister Modi urges citizens to turn out in large number to cast their vote as 2019 Lok Sabha elections commence.

Approximately 90 crore voters will exercise their franchise. Appealing to the people, Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said that people should cast their vote in order to make the democracy even stronger. The ultimate results in the state of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Maharashtra Assam and other states in North East will be key to fortunes of ruling NDA.

As India votes, the security forces across the nations have levelled up their security measures to ensure smooth and safe voting of the people.

Poll Timings:
Polling will be held in 91 out of 543 Lok Sabha constituencies spread over 20 states and Union Territories in the first phase on Thursday.

 

The voting time in most of the Parliamentary Constituencies going to polls in the first phase is between 7am-6pm. However, in certain sensitive areas and North East States the timings will vary from 7am-5pm/ 7am-4pm/ 7am-3pm.
