Gandhinagar, March 30: With a galaxy of top leaders, including union ministers and many NDA allies, Bhartiya Janata Party president Amit Shah filed his nomination for the national election from Gandhinagar. Shah, who is contesting the Lok Sabha poll for the first time, has replaced BJP veteran Lal Krishna Advani, who had been winning uninterrupted from Gandhinagar since 1998, from the prestigious constituency.
Accompanied by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, the BJP chief submitted his nomination form to the Gandhinagar district collector and returning officer S K Langa.
Earlier in the day, Shah addressed a massive rally with the National Democratic Alliance leaders and conducted a roadshow in Ahmedabad. Top leaders like Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Uddhav Thackeray, Nitin Gadkari, Vijay Rupani, Prakash Singh Badal were present at the venue of the public rally organised before Amit Shah.
“I feel proud to be contesting from Gandhinagar parliamentary constituency that has chosen stalwarts like Lal Krishna Advani. I will make every effort to take Advani ji's legacy forward”, expressed Shah at the rally.
Appealing to people of Gujarat to support BJP on all 26 Lok Sabha seats in the state, he also stated confidently, “Upcoming Lok Sabha elections will be fought on only one issue. People will choose their leader at the Centre. It is certain that, Narendra Modi will win second term as a prime minister of the country”.
