New Delhi, February 26: Hours after India carried out pre-dawn surgical strikes on Tuesday on terror camps across the border, Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale gave out details of the daring operation by the Indian Air Force. He asserted that the attack by IAF struck the terror camp which was led by Maulana Yusuf Azhar alias Ustad Ghauri, the brother in law of JeM Chief Masood Azhar. In a laser-targeted operation, it is asserted that India struck almost 300 terrorists.

Addressing the media, Vijay Gokhale confirmed that the Indian Air Force carried the early morning surgical strike in Pakistan. He said that through credible intelligence, India was informed that the Jaish terror groups were planning for yet another suicide bomb attack in India. India struck the biggest Jaish facility in Balakot on early hours of Tuesday, in which top leaders have been eliminated. In pre-dawn operation, India struck biggest Jaish terror camp in Balakot. Ustaad Gohri, brother in law of Masood Azhar, led the camp.

However, the strike was solely targeted at Jaish camp. Efforts were made to ensure no civilian casualties. Large number of JeM terrorists, trainers, senior commanders were eliminated in largest JeM camp in Balakot which was led by Maulana Yusuf Azhar alias Ustad Ghauri, the brother in law of JeM Chief Masood Azhar," he added.

Continuing his speech, the Foreign Secretary said, "Information regarding the location of training camps in Pakistan and PoJK has been provided to Pakistan from time to time. Pakistan, however, denies their existence. The existence of such massive training facilities capable of training hundreds of jihadis could not have functioned without the knowledge of Pakistan authorities.

India has been repeatedly urging Pakistan to take action against the JeM to prevent jihadis from being trained and armed inside Pakistan. Pakistan has taken no concrete actions to dismantle the infrastructure of terrorism on its soil.

It has been expected from Pakistan that they live up to its public commitment and takes follow up actions to dismantle all JeM and other camps and hold the terrorists accountable for the actions. The Government of Pakistan had made a solemn commitment in January 2004 not to allow its soil or territory under its control to be used for terrorism against India.
