Shimla, December 9: Hindering the progress of the state is the primary role of the oppositions and they did it well as the winter session of Himachal Pradesh began today on a stormy note with opposition Congress staging walkout from the House on the issue of global investors meet.
The opposition MLAs were demanding a discussion on investors meet under rule 67 (adjournment motion), for which few of them had submitted a notice to the Speaker earlier.
Immediately after the obituary references for four MLAs, who passed away in past months, after Monsoon session of the state Assembly, and the introduction of two newly-elected MLAs of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in by-polls- Vishal Nehria (Dharamshala) and Reena Kashyap (Pachad), leader of opposition, Mukesh Agnihotri raised the issue. He said the Congress party welcomes any investment in Himachal but is opposed to the way the BJP government has gone about it.
A police force has been stationed in the city on December 7 for the winter session of the assembly. About 750 personnel will take over security. In this regard, the Superintendent of Police Office has sent the list to high officials. For the people of other panchayats, including Rasan Panchayat adjoining the Municipal Corporation Dharamshala, temporary passes will be made at Zorawar Stadium in Siddhbadi so that they do not face any problem during the session.
The police administration has completed preparations for the winter session of the 13th assembly. There will also be 10 additional Superintendent of Police and DSP rank officers and they will take over the Chief Command of Security.
