Pune, Dec 9: RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat said “the country could witness radical transformation if each family were to rear and nurture cows. The entire society would be awakened leading to transformation of the human life. Cow is considered as ‘Vishwa Mata’ in Indian culture. Our culture treats cow as ‘Kamdhenu’ but there are some Hindus who take the same cow to an abattoir”.
He was speaking at the Shraddheya Moropant Pingle Gau-Sewa Puraskar samaroh organised jointly by Go-Vigyan Sanshodhan Sanstha and Dadra-Nagar Haveli Mukti Sangram Samiti here on Saturday. President of Gau-Vigyan Sanshodhan Sanstha Rajendra Lunkad, Secretary Bapu Kulkarni, Shivshahir Babasaheb Purandare, and RSS Pune Mahanagar Sanghchalak Ravindra Wanjarwadkar were conspicuous by their presence at the program.
Sarsanghchalak honoured selected organizations and individuals with this coveted award comprising Rs 1 lakh cash, memento, shawl and sriphal. The state-level Moropant Pingle Health Award went to Vaidya Jyotitai Mundargi of Talegaon-Dabhade and Vaidya Ajit Udavant of Bhosri.
Moropant Pingle Gau Seva Prachar Award was given to Editor of ‘Aaj Ka Anand’ Shyam Agrawal while Punam Raut of Pargaon Khandala, Distt Satara was honoured with Moropant Pingle Panchgavya Production and Training award.
Sarsanghchalak also performed the ‘pujan’ of ‘Savatsa Dhenu’ and released a book titled ‘Gau Vigya Andolan ke Pravartak Shraddhey Moropant Pingle’ written by senior journalist Moreshwar Joshi.
Bhagwat said “it is our duty to nurture cows and there are good number of organizations and individuals who are engaged in this task in our country. It is believed that 33 crore gods and goddesses reside in a cow’s body. If the society becomes aware about nurturing cows then we can expect radical transformation in the society. Nurturing cows can provide solutions to many problems faced by the families and society. If this happens all our problems can be solved in a decade.
“Cow is the mother of universe....it nurtures soil, it nurtures animals, birds and it also nurtures humans and protects them from diseases and makes the human heart as tender as flower,” he said adding that even nurturing cows could transform the criminals into better human beings and it is the experience of the jail authorities.
“When jails set up cow sheds and prisoners started rearing cows, the authorities saw that the criminal mind set of these prisoners started diminishing, and I am telling you this from experiences shared by some jail authorities,” he said.
He underlined the contribution of cow in conducting the daily cycle of life and emphasized that society must be told about the importance of cow. Nurturing cows would enhance our economy but we need not evaluate them from only the economy point of view. As we love our elderly family ladies and mothers, so we need to love the cows. Cow is judged the best scientifically also and even in foreign countries the views about cows are changing. Cows of Indian origin breed are much preferred in countries like Brazil.
It would not be sufficient to leave the nurturing of cows to the government alone. Each individual must be made aware of his or her duties towards a cow and protecting the cow. If this awareness is brought in then no cow would be sent to an abattoir, he said.
He said that we must tell the people the importance of cow which is considered as a ‘Universal Mother’. Late Moropant Pingle was committed to creating a rich and wealthy society and he could achieve the seemingly unachievable goal in his life. If we follow the path shown by him we can also bring about the radical transformation, he said.
