Lucknow, December 6: After Lucknow and Varanasi, the state government is now going to expand the borders of eight more municipal corporations of the state. These cities are Gorakhpur, Firozabad, Agra, Kanpur, Shahjahanpur, Mathura, Prayagraj and Ayodhya. This proposal can be put up for approval soon in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Most of the municipal corporations of the state are being increased after 25 to 30 years. Its main objective is to provide basic amenities to the urban people on need basis. With this, after the Municipal Corporation comes to the boundary, the income of the Municipal Corporations will increase with the collection of house tax from the houses built in such areas. On this basis, the city development department has sought a proposal to increase the limit from the municipal corporations. Most of the proposals have been prepared and it has been agreed in the meeting of high officials.
Census work for the year 2021 is to begin across the country. The Directorate of Census has said that the work related to the expansion or demarcation of the border should be completed by 31 December. The range cannot be expanded after this. On the basis of this, the Department of Municipal Development is expanding the limits of Municipal Corporation, Nagar Palika Parishad and Nagar Panchayats. Sources say that a total of 10 municipal corporations including Varanasi and Lucknow are to be expanded. Apart from this, the limit of 80 Nagar Panchayats and 30 Palika Parishad will be increased.
