Charming but cautioning! Cold wave occupies north India; likely to intensify further

New Delhi, December 19: It's a time for Indian's to enjoy as the cold wave has gripped many parts of north India including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana and Delhi. However, considering it's intensity, Inidans need to be careful as well.

IMD official R K Jenamani said, due to western disturbance, the rain will occur in many parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh tomorrow which will further bring down the temperature. He added that rainfall is likely on Sunday in some parts of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.
Delhi and Chandigarh are recording season's lowest temperatures as cold grips northern India. All schools in Uttar Pradesh are also to remain closed on December 19 and 20 owing to the cold weather. The national capital recorded the coldest day of the season, with the minimum temperature settling at 7 degrees Celsius, a notch below the normal. The maximum temperature in Chandigarh was recorded at 11.3 degrees Celsius, which was lower than that of Shimla. 
Other North Indian cities to record the biggest departures from their normal maximum temperatures on Wednesday were Chamba (-10.9°C departure from normal) from Himachal Pradesh, Pantnagar (-9.8°C) from Uttarakhand, Bathinda (-10.7°C) from Punjab, Karnal (-10°C) from Haryana, Kanpur (-11.8°C) from Uttar Pradesh and Sawai Madhopur (-10.3°C) from Rajasthan.
 
 
 
IMD also predicted dense fog in isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, south Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, west Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and Odisha in the morning hours.
