Deepening strategic bilateral ties, India and US holds 2+2 dialogue in Washington

Washington, December 19: Increasing strategic bilateral ties, India and the US initiated the second 2+2 dialogue in Washington. The meeting was led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar, from the Indian side and Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and Secretary of Defense Mark Esper from the US side focused on sharing vision of the two sides on global perspectives, including the geopolitically significant Indo-Pacific region.

“Participated in the 2 Plus 2 Dialogue between India and the United States in Washington. India and the US have a worldwide strategic partnership and we are working collectively to deepen this partnership. The 2+2 mechanism has brought about greater synergy in our policies,” said Singh in his tweet.

 
 

"Had an excellent meeting with US Defence Secretary Mark Esper in Washington today. During our bilateral talks, we reviewed the full range of India-US defence cooperation. India and USA are cooperating extensively in strategic and military areas," Rajnath Singh said after the meeting his US counterpart.

The second 2 plus 2 India US ministerial dialogue in Washington chalked out a pathway to take the bilateral relationship between the two countries in 2020 to a new level.
A number of agreements ranging from greater interaction between elected representatives, Industrial Security Annex (ISA), for collaboration in space, science and water and people-to-people contact were signed.
