New Delhi, December 11: "The proposed CAB legislation will be embossed in the golden letters in history", said PM Narendra Modi while bashing the opposition of speaking Pakistan's language on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in the Upper House of Parliament. "People who fled religious persecution have long lived a life of uncertainty in India and will get permanent relief once the proposed law comes into effect", he added after the bill was tabled for discusion in the Rajya Sabha today.

"Opposition parties are speaking the language of Pakistan on the bill", he said, his remarks being in apparent reference to the claims of parties such as the Congress and the Trinamool Congress that the bill discriminated against Muslims and violated the Constitution.

Modi in the parlaimentary meeting today had addressed the BJP parliamentarians to bust the myths being spread about the bill. He said its passage in Parliament should not be the end of the matter and they should inform the masses about its details, it is learnt.

Congress Party's Anand Sharma opposing the bill while in the parliament said, "The bill that BJP has brought is an assault on the very foundation of Indian constitution, it is an assault on the Republic of India. It hurts the soul of India. It is against our constitution and democracy. It fails the morality test". He meanwhile also accused the Hindu Mahasabha then back in 1940s to introduce the two nation theory that he accused, led the partition of India.

However, AITC's Derek O Brien, again opposing the bill, accused the ruling governmnet for bluffing the promises. "The BJP govt is good in making promises. It is even better in breaking the promises. One India, One Tax, One Nation.. are all just bluffs. PM Modi has done so many promises to Indians and giving no new thing", he said.

MHA Amit Shah tabling the bill in the Upper House scathing a remark at the opposition asserted that the bill does not speak about the Muslims living in India. The opposition has been dragging the Muslim religion for no particular reason as the Indian Muslims have nothing to worry about, then for whom are these people concerned?
Shah said that misinformation has been spread that this bill is against Muslims of India. "I want to ask the people saying this that how is this bill related to Indian Muslims? They are Indian citizens and will always remain, no discrimination against them," he said.

The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill seeks to amend the Citizenship Act, 1955, to provide Indian nationality to Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Parsis, Jains and Buddhists fleeing persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh", PM Modi noted today in the Parliamentary meeting.

Turning the focus to the upcoming budget further, PM Modi told BJP MPs to gather feedback from all sections of society, including farmers, traders, the poor, businessmen and industrialists, and share the inputs with the finance minister. He also asked MPs to give a standing ovation to the party's big win in the Karnataka bypolls, noting that it has bagged some seats it never won earlier.
