'Secular, what's that?', newly anointed CM Thackrey diverts the rejoinder; Assures 5 complete years of govt in MH

Mumbai, November 29: In his first decision after swearing-in as the chief minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray declared his government's decision to allot Rs 20 crore for the development of Raigad. This was after Uddhav Thackeray held a cabinet meeting after taking the chief minister's oath where the decision was taken.

 

 

In a spectacular ceremony, Uddhav Thackeray and six others from Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP took oath at the historic Shivaji Park in Mumbai on Thursday evening. Addressing a press conference after the cabinet meeting, CM Uddhav Thackeray said, "I am happy to tell you all that the first decision that this cabinet has taken is to approve Rs 20 crore for the development of Raigad which was the capital of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj."

He also said his government will ensure good governance in the state, creating an atmosphere where there would not be fear. "The Sena-NCP-Congress alliance government would work for the common people of Maharashtra. I want to greet people of Maharashtra and want to tell that this government will be of the common citizen's. There won't be a climate of fear. The first Cabinet meeting happened. I was happy that the first proposal came to me was impressive", he added.

 

Assuring the farmers of Maharashtra of help in the best possible way, he said, "I want to help the farmers in a manner which will make them happy. We can paint a better picture if we know the reality. Farmers have not got anything, but only assurances. We want to provide concrete help to farmers".

On being asked if the Shiv Sena has become 'secular', Uddhav Thackeray said, "Secular ka matlab kya hai? Samvidhan mein jo kuch hai woh hai". Reacting to Former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's tweet attacking the common minimum programme of the alliance government, Thackeray, acting a bit rude, said, "It's a Cabinet for the whole of Maharashtra. If he doesn't understand, he should study". Fadnavis noted the common minimum programme (CMP), saying it had no mention for the concerns of Marathwada, Vidarbha, and Northern Maharashtra.
