Ankara, October 24: India has issued a travel advisory asking people to exercise the utmost caution while traveling to Turkey. India's Embassy in Turkey, in its advisory, said although there have been no reports of untoward incidents in the country, travelers should be cautious. It said the government has been receiving queries from Indian nationals on traveling to Turkey in view of the situation in the region.
Those requiring assistance may get in touch with Embassy of India, Ankara through helpline numbers - 90312 4408259 and 90312 4382195 and Consulate General of Istanbul at helplines 90212 2962131 and 90212 2962132.
Expressing regret and strongly condemning the statements made by Turkey on Kashmir, New Delhi asked Ankara to get a proper understanding "of the situation on the ground before" commenting on the matter.
India also expressed deep concerns about the unilateral military offensive by Turkey in north-east Syria, saying that Ankara's actions can undermine stability in the region and has the potential for causing humanitarian and civilian distress.
Also, US President Donald Trump said that Turkey was making the ceasefire in northern Syria permanent, prompting the United States to lift recent sanctions.
It had imposed sanctions on Turkish imports in response to the violence. Mr. Trump also declared a change of course in US relations with the Middle East, where he said too many American service members had died.
