Bhubaneshwar, October 24: One of the rarest silk of Odisha has got the intellectual property rights. ‘Demphi Silk’ of Odisha has been trademarked, giving it a distinct identity.
Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik today made this announcement of twitter. Due to getting trademark, Demphi silk will now never lose the identity of it's originality.
Demphi silk is made from the peduncle (stem) of the tassar cocoon. he eco-friendly yarn has ability to blend with other yarns which provides unique textures to the fabric. The Department of Textiles and Handloom also declared that it has focused attention on Sericulture sector for promotion of Tassar Farming, conservation of wild eco-races, expansion of Tasar forestry, establishment of tassar Silk park and development of Demphi silk).
