New Delhi, October 19: Disagreeing on the rumours spread over One Nation-One Ration Card scheme, Minister of Food & Public Distribution, Ram Vilas Paswan said that there are rumors that beneficiaries will have to make new cards under One Nation-One Ration Card scheme, which is totally wrong and baseless. No new card is needed anywhere. Do not get seduced by anyone. Your old ration card will be valid across the country.

He also added that the "One Nation-One Ration Card" scheme will start across the country from June 1, 2020. Under this, any beneficiary will be able to get his share of food grains from anywhere across the country through his current ration card. No new ration card is required. Only the old ration card will be valid in the whole country.

The scheme will let ration cardholders buy food grain anywhere in the country. Ration cards are usually issued by states, under the National Food Security Act. Beneficiaries now have access to ration shops in issuing states alone.

Women shifting to different states post-marriage and migrant workers are affected by this. The central scheme will integrate all state public distribution systems to a central repository of beneficiaries’ details.
