In our former slogan, I wish to add “Jai Anusandhan”: PM at ISC
Jalandhar, Jan 3: The Indian Science Congress is an annual congregation that witnesses deliberations by top scientific minds of the country.
PM Modi inaugurated this conference today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered the inaugural address at ISC-2019.
The theme for which is 'Future: India-Science and Technology'. This will be Modi’s 5th address to Indian Science Congress after assuming office as Prime Minister.
During the five-day-long ISC, around 100 plus conferences and events of scientific and technological origin will also be held, where scientists, senior officials from DRDO, ISRO, Department of Science and Technology, AIIMS, UGC, AICTE, and many elite universities of the US, UK, India and other countries will participate.
During this inaugural speech, Modi said, “I am happy to inaugurate 106th session of ISC. It is pleasure to be in the company of eminent scientist, scholars, and students. I believe that the greatness of India is not only in our science and technological advancement, but also India’s greatness is in the linkage of science and technology with society.”
Further, he said, “The Indian Science Congress has a rich legacy with some of India’s finest minds including J. C. Bose, C. V. Raman, and Megha Aha have been associated with this institution. They make miracles in Minimum resources and Maximum struggle. They serve society with their thoughts and creations. We are still learning from their commitment and creativity.”
Modi stated that, in 1970, Acharya Jagdish Chandra Bose established the first dedicated scientific research center, “Bose institute” in Kolkata. The inaugural speech is the reflection of the holistic views of science. The life and work of these scientists are compelling testaments of deep fundamental insights with technology development and nation-building.
Modi quoted, “through our modern temples of science, India is transforming its present and working to secure her future.”
20 years ago, at the historic address at Pokhran, our great prime minister Atal Ji had recognized the contribution of science and technology and added, “Jai Vigyan”.
He said that “I believe it now a time to take one more step forward, I wish to add, “Jai Anushandhan”.
“Our pursuit of science will fulfill through two objectives, generation of profound and descriptive knowledge and consumption of that knowledge for socio-economic goods. To boost our discovery science system, we must focus on innovations and startups.”
He cited, the industry must now contribute by providing timely direction, vision, mentorship and partnership to startup. We must have to use science and innovations for affordable healthcare, housing, clean air, water and energy, agriculture productivity and food processing.
He stated, “Science is universal but technology should be local for providing solutions relevant to local needs and conditions.”
PM Modi called up “Prime Minister Science, Technology, and Innovation Council” to discuss scientific issues in details and formulate an action plan in consultation with Ministry Human Resource Development to boost research in colleges and universities.
He said that government had approved “National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical System” with the investment of 3600 crores, this mission will cover R&D, Technology development, human resources and skills, innovative startup ecosystem and strong industry and international collaboration.
He stated “I have faith on our scientist that our dream of “Gaganyaan” will fulfill in the prescribed time.”
PM Modi specified that India needs a new futuristic roadmap for science and technology and innovation. With this objective, we recently made “Prime Minister Science and Technology and Innovation Advisory Council” which will help to formulate accurate science and technology interventions, detailed collaboration with different agencies and government.
