Kerala government will pursue Centre over UAE financial assistance: CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 23: Clarifying on the financial aid offered by the United Arab Emirates, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that state government will pursue the Central government to settle the issue of Kerala relief fund.

Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister urged political parties to refrain from political mud-slinging. Earlier, reports were surfaced that the central government is not in favor of accepting the financial aid of Rs 700 crore by the UAE government on which several ruling party leaders expressed displeasure over the reported move of the central government.

Meanwhile, Vijayan took to Twitter and thanked UAE government and expressed gratitude on behalf of Kerala government. He informed that details of financial assistance will be shared with the Prime Minister’s office for further clearance.

Referring to the National Disaster Management Plan (NDMP), the Chief Minister stated that as a goodwill gesture any state government can accept the contributions from other countries.
