Signifying the women of society, PM Modi stresses on ‘India’s development under the leadership of women’

Bengaluru, May 4: “India is heading towards a women-led development from only women development. We are discussing development under the leadership of women,” believes Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today PM Modi had an interaction with Bhartiya Janata Party Mahila Karyakartas. 

Interacting with zeal, PM Modi stressed saying that today, we are talking about development under women leadership. Organization or government, for us it is women first. We have given prominent portfolios to women. India is marching ahead from women development to women-led development.

We have given important portfolios to women in our Cabinet. These two pictures are proof of that, PM Modi highlighted.


Karnataka has been heating up for the upcoming elections, PM Modi said we'll win the election but for us, it is important to win polling booth. We need to expose the hollow promises made by Congress party and urge the people of Karnataka to join the journey of development.

Empowering women, PM Modi expressed that it has always been our effort to give equal opportunity to women.

Speaking on the efforts taken by the BJP for empowering women, PM Modi informed that about 9 Crore women have benefitted from Mudra scheme so far. Our government has distributed free gas connections to nearly 9.50 lakh poor women in Karnataka under the Ujjwala scheme. We increased maternity leave for women to 6 months. Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana was started, more than 19 thousand Crore deposited under this scheme, PM Modi added.

Teasing down the Congress, PM Modi said If Congress does not spread lies then how will it work? If Congress does not spread lie, it'll lose its relevance. We need to expose the hollow promises made by Congress party and urge the people of Karnataka to join the journey of development.

We have organised 4 lakh free health check-ups and free vaccination of nearly 10 lakh women and children were done in Karnataka. Many schemes were created for women's empowerment but their implementation was not in a correct direction, after we came to power, we started many schemes for women from health to maternity leave, so that they could get all the necessary amenities after delivery and make her life tensionless, PM Modi added further.

Speaking about the efforts taken by B S Yeddyurappa, PM Modi said even today people of Karnataka remember the schemes that were started. Rs 10,000 were deposited for girls under Bhagya Lakshmi scheme, which doubled during their marriage.

Stressing on women empowerment and safety, PM Modi highlighted that awareness in the society about atrocities on women and sense of responsibility can help us get rid of social evil. It has always been our effort to give equal opportunity to women. The government has recently made stringent amendments in laws relating to crimes against women and children, increasing the punishment up to death penalty in some cases.

He further continued saying that rural sanitation has increased from 40% to more than 80% now. Under mission mode, our government has made separate toilets for girls in government schools. This has improved security and there is considerable decline in drop out of girls from school.

Gratifying the women of society, PM Modi said women have invaluable contribution in every field, whether Olympics or Commonwealth Games, women are also joining the army, which show their progress. Our government stands solidly to support women at every stage whether they want to become home maker, job seeker or job creator, Modi added.
