As a gift on Maharashtra Day, Railway tickets will now have station names printed in Marathi as well

Mumbai, April 28: Creating feasibility and ease of transport for its commuters, the Indian Railway has always welcomed new invention and tactics to overcome problems. In such new move, to encourage the use of the state language, Indian Railway has decided to print station names with the use of Marathi language from May 1, the Maharashtra diwas.

The Ministry of Railways has announced that commencing from May 1, that is the Maharashtra Diwas, the railway tickets will have Marathi language highlighting the station name on the ticket.

 

Railway tickets as of now display the travel details in Hindi and English language. From May 1, for the stations in Maharashtra, they also will be displayed in Marathi.

All stations in Maharashtra will follow this norm starting May 1. Names of the arrival and departure stations will be printed in Marathi for local and long distance journeys.

Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS) will look after the execution.
