Cold Wave Intensifies In J&K: Leh records minimum temperature of -15.1°C

Srinagar, December 29: The temperature in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir dropped several degrees below freezing point. Leh town recorded a minimum temperature of minus 15.1 degree Celsius. Cold wave in Ladakh region continues to disrupt the normal life and there seems no sign of relief from the bone-biting cold weather conditions.


 

Chill wind sweeping the region had further worsen the difficulties of people for outdoor activities.

People are avoiding exposure of outside icy temperature and the markets have turned deserted looks due to less number of shoppers.

Srinagar the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir had experienced the coldest December night in nearly three decades with a low of minus 7.6 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, which dropped further to minus 7.7 degrees Celsius Thursday, making it the coldest night of the season so far in the city and the coldest December night in 28 years since 7 December, 1990 when the city had recorded a low of minus 8.8 degrees Celsius, the weatherman said.

On Thursday, Kargil was the coldest recorded place in Jammu and Kashmir at minus 16.2 degrees Celsius, the official said.
