US and Turkey agreed on avoidance of power vacuum in Syria

Washington, Dec 24: US president Donald Trump and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan agreed to prevent a power vacuum in Syria after pullout of American forces.

According to official statement by Turkish Presidency, the both of the leaders in a conversation yesterday, agreed to ensure coordination between countries’ military and other officials to avoid a power vacuum which could resultant into abuse of the withdrawal and transition phase in Syria.

US president Donald Trump said that, the conversation between US and Turkey is about “slow and coordinated withdrawal of US troops from Syria”.

 

The pullout of US troops from Syria is sudden decision taken by Trump’s government, which became a subject of criticism from US lawmakers with some fellow Republics.

Donald Trump tweeted that the two leaders has a long and productive call in which they discussed about ISIS, both countries mutual involvement in Syria, slow and high coordinated pullout of US troops from country.

On Friday, Donald Trump announced plans to pull the 2,000 US troops out of Syria, where they had been helping coordinate a multinational fight against Islamic States.

Donald Trump also said, the highly expanded trade between two countries after two NATO ally’s relationship went into a tailspin over the summer.

Trump’s decision shocked the US allies, but Turkey supported this decision. An American pullout would allow Turkey troops to move against the hardened Kurdish fighter in Syria as Kurdish fighters are deemed as terrorists by the Ankara.
