‘If you want wellness with wealth, come to India. If you want health and wholeness of life, come to India. If you want prosperity and peace, come to India’ these are the words with which the Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his speech at World Economic Forum, Davos.
Prime Minister delivered a path breaking speech in Hindi with strategic use of Sanskrit shlokas. Using Sanskrit sholka was a master stroke. It not only demonstrated how ancient India is but also demonstrated that how from millenniums India has been thinking and contributing to the welfare of world. It just positioned India on a different pedestal. After all only handful of nations can claim to have a thriving continuous civilisation like India.
PM started the speech with setting up the current world scenario and changes it has gone through using the Ex-Prime Minster Deve Gowda’s last visit to Davos.
He bought three important issues to the attention of world leaders. He talked about
1. Climate change
2. Terrorism
3. Protectionism
In climate change he talked about Indian culture of protecting nature and quoted Upanishadas and Buddha. It is important to note that the Developed nations are shying away from addressing the climate change head on.
Highlight of these three points was that he didn’t spent much time on the second point i.e. terrorism. He raised two issues under terrorism and left it that. The first issue was to stop differentiating between ‘good terrorist and bad terrorist’. The second issue was the increasing involvement of educated youth in the act of terrorism.
Third point was the master stroke. With this point Narendra Modi has taken up the pole position among the world leaders. When USA, UK, and other champions of globalisation are turning to protectionism, he talked about globalisation. He also talked about the changing the functioning of global organisation like United Nation and WTO. This will attract the developing nation towards India.
He did talk about the changes taking place in India for making the life of citizens and business comfortable. He talked about how after 30 years, India has a government with full majority and people giving up subsidy on the call of government.
And in the end he reminded the world that it is time to follow international norms and also mentioned that India neither has expansionist attitude nor has any interest in exploiting the natural resources of any other country, clearly differentiating India from China, without taking name. He also reminded the world that India has always stood with the nations in distress not only around it but also across the world by sending largest number of troops as part of UN Peace Keeping Forces.
Apart from this, other highlights of the speech were the importance of Big Data and competition to exploit it to control the future and how it is becoming more difficult to maintain peace to name a couple.
To sum it up, this speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be remembered as a defining moment in the world history when India reclaimed its numer uno position in the world. Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the speech at 3.50 PM and when he concluded the speech at 4.50 PM, the leadership of World had changed.
