Jingle Bells ring in Goa! Santa Claus distribute gifts while people sunk in Christmas Eve

Panaji, December 25: Merry Christmas! Goa is sunk in religious celebrations of Christmas. Midnight masses accompanied by pealing of church bells and eye-pleasing fireworks ushered Christmas in the state, heralding the birth of Jesus Christ. Governor Mridula Sinha, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar greeted the people of Goa on the occasion of Christmas. 

In his message, the Chief Minister said, “May the auspicious festival of Christmas be a moment for hope and happiness as well as an opportunity to celebrate the spirit of sharing and brotherhood. I extend my warm greetings and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.” 
 
 
 
 Many churches in Goa held outdoor services with night vigil followed by Eucharistic celebrations. The carols sung by various groups provided musical backdrop to the celebrations. In some of the churches, the services concluded with the distribution of cake and coffee.

Meanwhile, cribs depicting scenes of the birth of Lord Jesus have been put up at Christian homes, churches, chapels and different strategic locations. A large number of Goans residing outside Goa have come down to the state to celebrate the festival with their families.

Furthermore, the eve of Christmas witnessed Santa Claus moving around the cities and towns and distributing gifts as well as chocolates to kids.
