CM Shivraj lays foundation for 'world's largest' solar power plant

Bhopal, December 23: The World’s biggest Solar Power Plant is being established at Rewa District of Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan performed bhoomi-poojan of the solar power plant in a grand programme yesterday.

The plant will produce 750 mw electricity. More over the plant will produce electricity at a cost of just Rs 2.97 per unit, which is the lowest in the world. On this occasion, Chief Minister also inaugurated Pradhan Mantri Soubhagya Yojana in the programme.

While speaking at inauguration programme, CM Chouhan said that it is a matter of pride for all of us that the biggest Solar Power Plant of the world is being established at Rewa. Vindhya region being a center of Thermal and Hydro Power already has also become a center of Solar Power.

“Solar energy will be produced by this plant at the lowest rate of the world without causing damage to the environment. The energy produced by the plant will run metro rail of the Capital. Also, the houses and industries will get power generated from this plant at low rates.”

Moreover, Chouhan mentioned that the Soubhagya Yojana has been started to give electricity connection to every house. Under the scheme, electricity connection will be provided to each house of Madhya Pradesh by December-2018. He informed that Rs 2 lakh crore has been invested in energy sector in the state during the last 5 years.

Chouhan further stated that constant efforts are being made by the state government for the welfare of poor. Twenty four hours electricity is being provided in the state. Law has been enacted to give land rights to every poor.
