Jaipur, November 28: Patriotism along with education is must and therefore Rajasthan government led by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Monday has asked all the hostels to compulsorily recite national anthem daily. The effort is taken to evoke nationalism in students.
Notably, all the 800 government hostels in Rajasthan have been asked to compulsorily recite national anthem daily in the morning by 7 am. The notice for the same has been issued the state department for Social Justice and Empowerment (SJE) which came into effect on Sunday 26 November of this year.
The state’s Social Justice and Empowerment Department said that this was an effort to evoke nationalism in youth and students. According to the notification issued by the government, the students in all 800 hostels across the state will have to sing the national anthem every day. The notification also noted that the national anthem was being sung in all residential schools, and it will be followed in hostels as well.
The department’s Principal Secretary Samit Sharma, however, said the tradition was already a part of the routine in hostels but was not followed regularly because of a shortage of staff. “We have just asked the national anthem to be sung regularly like it is being done in any other school,” Sharma added. Importantly, there are 789 hostels across the state with 40,000 students and 22 residential schools.
