Mumbai, November 1: The Prices of the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been increased for the Non-Subsidised and the Subsidised cooking gas from Wednesday. The Non-Subsidised cooking gas has been increased by 93 rupees per cylinder while Subsidised cooking gas is up by 4 rupees 50 paise per cylinder.
Non- Subsidised cooking gas will now cost 718 rupees 50 paise in Mumbai as against 625 previously while in Delhi, Rs.742 rupees as against 649 previously and in Kolkata, Rs.759 rupees 50 paise as against 665.50 previously and also 750 rupees in Chennai against 656.50 previously. The Subsidised cooking gas will now cost 498 rupees 38 paise in Mumbai for 14.2 KG cylinder, 495 rupees 69 paise in Delhi, 498 rupees 43 paise in Kolkata, 483 rupees 69 paise in Chennai.
Considering 2011 census data carried out in India, 35 million (30 %) Indian households used LPG as cooking fuel, which is increasing 3-4 % by every year. According to Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) was launched with a target of providing LPG connections to 50 million below-poverty-line families in three years. In April 2017, there were more than 2 crore beneficiaries under Ujjwala Yojana.
