Popularizing Indian Cinema, EAM dedicates India Pavillion at 70th Berlin Int'l Film Fest

New Delhi, February 20: Popularizing Indian Cinema and facilitating novel business opportunities, EAM S Jaishankar on Thursday inaugurated the Indian pavillion at the Berlin Int'l Film Fest. While three feature films and one documentary from India have been selected for the said film fest, I&B ministry in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry is participating in the 70th edition of the festival.

Earlier, Dr Jaishankar held a an appretiative meeting with his German counterpart Heiko Maas and expressed gratitude for Germany's in expanding cooperation between India and the European Union. The External Affairs Minister, who was in Germany during the weekend for the Munich Security Conference, arrived in Berlin on Monday to prepare the ground for PM Modi's planned visit for the India-EU summit in Brussels next month.
"Inaugurated the India Pavillion at 70th Berlin International Film Festival, one of the largest public festivals. Congratulate the Indian entries selected this year. Our presence here will further popularize Indian cinema & facilitate new business opportunities", EAM Jaishankar tweeted after the opening ceremony there.
 
"If film-makers from across the world especially from Germany could come to India for their films, we have established a single window for film shooting. We intend to offer incentives for shooting in India", he added. The three Indian feature films that have been selected for the Berlin International Film Festival are Pushpendra Singh's 'Laila Aur Satt Geet', Prateek Vats' 'Eeb Allay Ooo!, Akhsay Indikar's 'Sthalpuran as well as one short documentary film, Ekta Mittal's 'Gumnaam Din'.  
 
 
On Tuesday, Jaishankar also met German Defence Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer in Berlin and discussed Afghanistan and policies in the Indo-Pacific region. Earlier thi week he had held discussions with members of the European Parliament, who represented a broad spectrum of politics and member states, over political, economic and social issues.
