Prez Kovind strengthens partnership by opening up various development prospects for Swaziland

Mbabane, April 10: Becoming the first President to visit and address the Parliament of Swaziland; President Ram Nath Kovind commits to have developmental partnership with the African nations and create local capacities in Swaziland and across Africa.

Appreciating the efforts of the government of Swaziland to welcome and take under creating a bilateral relation with India, President Ram Nath Kovind said that India has developed a vigorous institutional architecture of Parliamentary democracy. India has announced concessional finance for constructing a new parliament building in Swaziland.

 
 

Further Prez Kovind said that Indian investors have a good potential in have a high regional economic grouping. Swaziland can be seen as a regional hub for manufacturing and services for the Indian investors. Indian technologies and institutional models can help reduce costs of production in Swaziland. In this regard, India is also keen to share their expertise and experience with Swaziland and with the whole of African continent.

 

Inaugurating the Information Technology Center, both the nations should work on safeguarding the nations against cyber threats. India has offered to help in the construction of a Disaster Recovery Site for providing data backup at Swaziland’s National Data Centre.

 

Not only did India launched and create Information Technology Center, India has set to establish a Centre of Agricultural Excellence in Swaziland for scaling up this success. India has also assisted the Swazi farmers by giving them agricultural technologies. These agricultural technologies would enhance the productivity of maize.

 

On the medical front, Swaziland has shown immense progress in terms of slowing the spread of HIV. However India is the main source of affordable generic drugs including anti-retroviral drugs for fighting HIV. Lastly President Kovind also added that India will support the Swaziland National Disaster Management Agency, and have decided to donate US $1 million as well as food grains in kind. India has also invited Swaziland to join the International Solar Alliance as a partner country.
