Korea SS Open: Indian shuttlers Sindhu, Kashyap, Sameer Verma sailed into Pre-quarter finals round

Seoul, September 13: Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu, Parupalli Kashyap, Sameer Verma on Wednesday defeated their respective opponents and stormed into pre-quarter finals round at the Korea Super Series badminton tournament.

 

Notably, PV Sindhu registered a comprehensive win over Cheung Ngan Yi of Hong Kong by 21-13, 21-8 to enter into the pre-quarterfinals of the Korea Open Super Series. Sindhu will next face Nichaon Jindapon for a place in the last eight.



Parupalli Kashyap, Sameer Verma also entered into the second round. While, Parupalli Kashyap defeated China's Hsu Jen Hao 21-13, 21-16 and will face World No. 1 Son Wan Ho to qualify in quarterfinals. Sameer Verma registered a hard fought win over Thailand's Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk by 21-13, 21-23, 21-9.



Sai Praneeth wrapped up a 21-15, 21-10 win Hong Kong's Hu Yun in just 28 minutes to seal his place in the pre-quarterfinals. In the men’s doubles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated Lee Sheng Mu and Lin Chia Yu 21-9, 22-24, 21-12 and advanced to the pre-quarter finals round.



In the mixed doubles, the Indian pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa lost to Hong Kong's Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet 18-21, 19-21. Pranav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy also lost to fourth seeded Indonesian pair of Praveen Jordan and Debby Susanto in three games 21-13, 19-21, 15-21.
